If a more laid-back, bohemian vibe is desired, consider a trip to Holbox, an island north of the peninsula known for its sandy streets and whale shark tours (in season). For a deeper cultural immersion and colonial charm, the city of Mérida, with its vibrant markets and historical architecture, offers a different pace.

A single day trip to Chichén Itzá or Tulum from Iberostar Selection Cancún is possible, but it's a long day. To truly appreciate these sites and avoid rushing, we recommend at least one overnight stay. This allows for an early start, beating the crowds and the midday heat.
