Cookie Policy
Last updated September 4, 2026
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to run cancuncompass.com. Here is what each category does.
Essential
Required to keep you signed in, remember your city, and secure the site. These cannot be turned off without breaking the site.
Preferences
Remember choices like currency, language, and recently viewed places.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-V3691FLPZZ), provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC, to measure page views, searches, clicks and referral sources. Google acts as our processor for this data. GA4 sets first-party cookies such as_ga and _ga_<id>. We do not send names, email addresses or any other directly identifying information to Google, and we do not enable Google Signals or advertising features on the analytics property. We also record aggregate, non-identifying usage events (page paths, searches, outbound clicks and a random session identifier) in our own database.
Advertising and personalisation
Advertising and personalisation signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) are denied by default everywhere in the world and are only enabled if you press "Accept all". Affiliate and partner links (for example hotel, tour and transfer partners) may set their own cookies on their own sites once you click through; that is governed by their policies.
Your consent choices
- Consent-first countries - in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Brazil, South Africa, Thailand, South Korea, Turkey, India and Japan, nothing beyond essential cookies runs until you accept.
- Elsewhere - essential and analytics cookies run under a notice / opt-out model, and you can reject them at any time with the button below. Advertising cookies still require your explicit acceptance.
- Global Privacy Control - if your browser sends a GPC signal we treat it as a binding opt-out and disable analytics and advertising storage automatically.
Rejecting or withdrawing consent stops further analytics and advertising storage immediately, clears our analytics identifiers and removes Google Analytics cookies we can reach.
Retention
Google Analytics event-level data is retained for 14 months. Our own aggregate usage records are retained for up to 24 months. Consent choices are stored in your browser (localStorage key cc_cookie_consent) until you change or clear them.
International transfers
Google Analytics processing may involve transfers to the United States. Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for those transfers, and we enable IP redaction and URL passthrough to minimise the data shared.
How to control cookies
Use the Cookie settings button above (also in the site footer), or clear and block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will affect sign-in and trip saving.
For the wider data picture see our Privacy Policy.
