Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated July 17, 2026

Cancun Compass is used by travelers, residents, businesses, agents and employers. This policy sets the ground rules for anything you post - jobs, property listings, reviews, business profiles, community questions and concierge conversations.

You must not post

  • Illegal, fraudulent or deceptive content.
  • Discrimination based on race, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. Jobs and rentals in Cancun must comply with Mexican non-discrimination law.
  • Escort services, prostitution, or any sexual services disguised as jobs, tours or rentals.
  • Multi-level marketing recruitment framed as employment.
  • Fake reviews, paid reviews without disclosure, or reviews of your own business or competitors.
  • Duplicate listings, keyword stuffing or content designed to game search.
  • Malware, phishing links, or attempts to harvest other users' data.
  • Harassment, hate speech, threats or doxxing of any user, business or staff member.
  • Copyrighted photos, logos or text you do not have rights to use.

Property & agent listings

  • Prices must be real and in the currency shown. No bait-and-switch.
  • Photos must be of the actual property. Stock photos need to be labelled.
  • Only verified agents may list on behalf of an owner.

Job listings

  • Real openings only. No "database building" or resume harvesting.
  • Salary or salary range should be included when known.
  • No upfront fees from applicants.

Locals-only discounts

Businesses that offer resident-only discounts must accept the verification method they list (INE, CURP, utility bill, etc.) and cannot refuse valid proof.

Enforcement

We remove content that breaks these rules and may suspend or permanently terminate accounts. Repeat violations lead to permanent bans. Report violations to trust@cancuncompass.com.
