Cancun Compass is free for travellers and free for locals. Here is exactly where the money comes from, and the rules that keep it out of our recommendations.
Affiliate commissions
When you book a hotel, tour, transfer or flight through a link on this site, the operator pays us a commission. You pay the same price you would pay booking directly. This is the majority of our revenue.
VIP membership
Residents and repeat visitors pay a membership fee for discounts at verified restaurants, beach clubs and tour operators. Partners give the discount, we handle the platform and verification.
Verified business listings
Businesses can claim their listing for free. Paid tiers add photos, menus, offers and analytics. Paying does not buy a better rating, a better ranking or removal of a bad review.
Sponsored placements and advertising
Where a placement is paid for, it is labelled as sponsored or an ad on the page. It never replaces an organic result and it never changes the order of the results around it.
The rules we follow
- Rankings are based on quality signals, verified data and fit, never on commission rate.

- We do not accept payment to delete or hide honest negative information.
