Our standards
Editorial standards
These rules apply to destination guides, business pages, comparisons, recommendations and contributor work across Cancun Compass.
Evidence before claims
Important facts should come from an official source, a venue source, a licensed provider or a clearly identified editorial observation. Unsupported superlatives, ratings and first-hand claims are not published.
Editorial independence
Commercial relationships are disclosed. Affiliate links and sponsorship can fund the site, but payment cannot improve organic ranking, ratings or editorial conclusions.
Review and corrections
Dates, prices, opening details and availability can change. We show review dates where available, keep source records and correct supported reports without hiding material changes.
Responsible automation
Automation may organize source material or prepare a draft. It cannot invent experience, sources, reviews or facts, and machine-created drafts require the same evidence rules as human drafts.
How recommendations are ordered
Organic recommendations consider relevance, evidence quality, traveller fit, practical usefulness and freshness. A sponsored placement must be labelled and kept separate from organic ordering.
Change history
Published methodologies carry a version and review date. Material policy changes update those records. Individual pages show a last checked or last reviewed date when that evidence exists.
