Xel-Há is another excellent choice for water enthusiasts, focusing on its natural aquarium where snorkeling is the main attraction.

Tulum offers a unique coastal perspective on Mayan ruins, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the turquoise Caribbean Sea. It's a more compact site than Chichén Itzá but offers stunning views. Back closer to the city, Mercado 28 provides a vibrant, albeit tourist-focused, shopping experience for souvenirs and local crafts, a stark contrast to the grand historical sites but a good option for a shorter outing.

Venturing to Chichén Itzá from La Isla Cancún typically requires a full day, with travel times ranging from 2.5 to 3 hours each way, depending on your transportation method and stops.
