Stepping into Twin Peaks feels like entering a well-appointed mountain lodge. The lobby, with its stone fireplace and dark wood accents, sets a cozy tone. Check-in is efficient, and you're soon heading to your room.

Ours featured a comfortable king bed, a small seating area, and a surprisingly spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. The mini-fridge was stocked with local craft beers, a nice touch. Downstairs, the main dining room offers hearty American fare, and the bar area buzzes with conversation, especially during happy hour.

We found the outdoor patio, complete with a fire pit, to be a perfect spot for an evening drink, overlooking the quiet woods. Breakfast, served in the same dining room, included made-to-order omelets and a good selection of pastries. Even a short stay at Twin Peaks leaves you with a sense of relaxed comfort, from the initial greeting to the final checkout.

While video tours offer a visual guide, they can't convey the crisp mountain air that greets you upon arrival at Twin Peaks, especially noticeable on a cool morning. The scent of pine needles and woodsmoke from the lobby fireplace is also absent from a screen. You also miss the ambient sounds: the gentle murmur of conversation in the dining room, the clinking of glasses at the bar, or the distant call of a bird outside your window.

Crowds are another factor; a video might show an empty hallway, but in reality, you'll encounter other guests, adding to the property's lived-in feel. The subtle shift in temperature as you move from the sun-drenched patio to the cool interior of the lodge is something only felt, not seen.
