Cancun International Airport (CUN) is your gateway, and getting to your accommodation requires a plan. Taxis are readily available outside the terminals, but agree on a fare before getting in, as meters are rarely used for tourist routes. Pre-booked shuttles offer a more predictable cost and are a good middle ground between shared transport and private taxis.

Many hotels also offer transfer services. While ride-sharing apps like Uber operate in Cancun, their legality and availability at the airport can be inconsistent; using them for airport pickup is often discouraged or impossible. Consider your hotel's location relative to Café con Gracia when choosing your transfer; Tankah is away from the main Hotel Zone strip, making a direct taxi or shuttle often the most efficient choice.

If your accommodation is in the Hotel Zone, the R1 and R2 public buses are your most economical option. These buses run frequently along the main boulevard, connecting major resorts, shopping centers, and nightlife hubs. Fares are fixed and paid directly to the driver.

Taxis are also abundant, but always negotiate your fare beforehand; prices can vary wildly. Walking is feasible for short distances between resorts or to nearby restaurants, but the Hotel Zone is spread out, and the tropical heat can make longer strolls challenging. Remember that Café con Gracia is located outside the primary Hotel Zone, so these options are primarily for reaching the main tourist thoroughfares before heading further afield.

To reach areas like downtown Cancun or the Tankah neighborhood where Café con Gracia is situated, the R1 bus is still a viable option, though it will take longer. It travels from the Hotel Zone into downtown. For a more direct route or if traveling late, a taxi is recommended.

Always confirm the destination with the driver and agree on a price. While downtown offers a more authentic glimpse of local life, exercise standard urban safety precautions: be aware of your surroundings, especially after dark, and avoid displaying valuables openly. The journey to Café con Gracia from downtown is relatively short once you are in the correct vicinity.

Renting a car offers the most freedom for exploring beyond Cancun, perhaps to sites like Chichén Itzá or Tulum. However, be extremely cautious with insurance. Rental agencies often push expensive, seemingly mandatory additional insurance.

Understand exactly what coverage you are purchasing, as the base price rarely includes full protection. Driving in Cancun can be hectic, with aggressive local drivers and sometimes unclear signage. Parking can also be a challenge in popular areas.
