Cancun's Hotel Zone, where Mochomos is located, generally feels safe for solo travellers, especially within the well-trodden tourist corridors. Street lighting is good along the main strip, and there's a visible police presence, particularly around popular nightlife spots and shopping centres.

We found walking back to our hotel after dinner in the early evening to be uneventful. However, like any major tourist destination, it pays to be aware of your surroundings. Stick to well-lit areas after dark and avoid displaying expensive electronics or large amounts of cash.

While petty theft can occur, serious crime targeting tourists is rare. The resort areas are designed with visitor safety in mind, but a healthy dose of common sense goes a long way.

Mochomos presents a lively and sophisticated dining atmosphere, which is generally more couple and group oriented. The restaurant buzzes with conversation, and the decor is modern and chic. While solo diners are welcomed and well-served, the predominant energy is one of shared experiences rather than individual mingling.

If you're seated on the sunset deck, the shared enjoyment of the view could spark brief conversations.

However, the primary way solo travellers will 'meet people' here is by observing and appreciating the vibrant scene, rather than through structured activities. For more direct social interaction, consider exploring other venues or joining a group tour originating elsewhere in Cancun.

For solo travellers, the single-supplement reality at Mochomos can be a point of consideration. While the property is designed for a lively social scene, rooms are typically priced for double occupancy. This means you'll likely be paying the full rate for a room built for two, even when travelling alone.
