Every Cancun Compass page combines primary-source verification, structured data from licensed travel providers, and on-the-ground review by our editorial board.

How we research
We build every page from a Research Object - a single canonical record per hotel, tour, restaurant, district, city or topic. Each Research Object is assembled from:
- Primary sources (official hotel and operator websites, government tourism boards, venue pages).
- Licensed travel data (Google Places, Viator, TravelPayouts/Hotellook, Amadeus).
- Editorial verification (our team cross-checks claims and flags anything that conflicts).
- Traveller signal (search demand, click-through patterns, repeated questions).
How we verify
Every fact carries a source, a confidence score and a "last verified" date. Facts expire on a source-specific schedule - for example, hotel availability is re-checked every 6 hours, place facts every 7 days, and editorial summaries every 30 days. When a fact expires or a source changes, the Research Object is marked stale and re-built before any page is re-published.
How we score
We never publish a page that fails our hard quality gates: minimum word counts, FAQ depth, image diversity, citation coverage, and editorial review. Pages that pass these gates display a "verified" trust tier and the date they were last reviewed.
